Case processing times can vary a lot so it’s useful to find out the estimated time for your application. Here are the processing times for some applications at the Norfolk field office, as provided by the USCIS:
- Naturalization (N-400): 8 to 14 months
- Certificate of Citizenship (N-600): 6.5 months to 16 months
- Citizenship and Issuance of Certificate Under Section 322 (N-600K): 6.5 to 25.5 months
According to the federal agency, the lower limit is the duration for processing half of the applications, while the upper limit is the months for processing most of the cases (93% to be exact).
When your case will be processed will depend on when the USCIS receives it. The federal agency handles cases in the order they receive them. The USCIS does provide a date for case inquiries in case your case is late. You can find this date on the same page as the processing times (linked above).
