How can HLG help with a case connected to Philippines?

Herman Legal Group can assess the U.S. immigration category, legal risks, evidence and next procedural step. Start with the applicant’s actual citizenship and residence, the U.S. petitioner or employer and the complete immigration history. A location does not establish eligibility for a particular category.

Choose the location guide that fits your case

The guides below explain preparation connected with particular cities. A city guide is not an HLG branch listing and does not determine the government office that will handle the case. Follow the actual case notice.

  • Manila — local preparation, document and appointment guidance.
  • Quezon City — local preparation, document and appointment guidance.
  • Davao City — local preparation, document and appointment guidance.
  • Cebu City — local preparation, document and appointment guidance.

Davao City: the local preparation details

Visa processing for a Davao-connected case

The State Department’s visa-issuing post directory lists Manila for the Philippines. Use the venue and instructions on your appointment confirmation; do not book a visa interview in Davao based on a location-page heading.

Our Manila immigration guide explains the distinction between the embassy, VAC and designated medical clinic. For another Visayas travel perspective, see the Cebu City guide.

Read the official Manila immigrant-visa instructions before arranging flights or accommodation. Required preparation includes VAC biometrics before the embassy interview, the designated medical examination, and the applicable document checklist.

  1. Confirm appointments: record the dates and venues from the actual notices.
  2. Check your originals: review civil, sponsor and case-specific evidence before departure.
  3. Schedule the medical: follow the approved provider and timing in the current instructions.
  4. Prepare for follow-up: keep access to the case record and avoid commitments that assume immediate visa issuance.

The government’s instructions control. A temporary visitor, student or worker must follow the process for that category rather than an immigrant-visa checklist.

Use the Philippines civil-document schedule to identify the required PSA and NBI records. Compare the required PSA version with any local civil-registry copy already in your file. For corrected records, check the appropriate amended version and supporting legal history.

Identify missing records and differences in maiden names, aliases or spellings early. If Philippine legal proceedings are necessary, coordinate with qualified local counsel as well as U.S. immigration counsel.

Manila: the local preparation details

Three venues to distinguish

The U.S. Embassy is on Roxas Boulevard in Manila. The immigrant-visa official Manila instructions list the VAC at Parqal Building 8, Level 3, Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Tambo, Parañaque, and St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic at 1177 J. Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila. Check the current instructions and each appointment confirmation before visiting.

Start with the State Department’s Manila immigrant-visa checklist. After receiving the interview appointment, register the delivery details and schedule VAC biometrics before the embassy interview. The instructions warn that missing the prior VAC appointment can lead to interview cancellation.

  1. Medical: arrange the examination with the designated St. Luke’s clinic; the post instructs applicants to schedule it two weeks before the interview.
  2. Documents: review the required originals and any CEAC upload requirements for your case.
  3. Final check: compare your appointment details, passport, application confirmation and category-specific evidence.

This is an orientation, not a replacement checklist. Visitor, student, temporary-worker and fiancé applicants must follow the instructions applicable to their own category.

The Philippines document schedule identifies PSA civil records and NBI clearance requirements. Where a civil record has been legally corrected, check the required amended version and CDLI endorsement. Review maiden names, previous names and spelling variants against the passport and application before ordering documents.

A late registration, missing record, annulment or foreign divorce calls for an individualized review. Bring the underlying documents and relevant court records; do not assume that changing an application answer resolves a civil-record problem.

Cebu City: the local preparation details

Cebu’s consular agency and Manila visa processing

The State Department’s visa-issuing post directory lists Manila for the Philippines. It does not list Cebu as a visa-issuing post. Use your Manila appointment instructions for visa processing. The U.S. Consular Agency Cebu is a separate resource; confirm its services before requesting an appointment there.

For further preparation, see our Manila U.S. immigration guide. A city guide cannot change the post or venue assigned to your case.

Read the official Manila immigrant-visa preparation instructions before arranging travel. Plan the VAC biometrics appointment, designated medical examination and embassy interview as separate requirements. Check their timing and addresses, and allow for additional medical or document follow-up.

  1. Confirm the case stage: distinguish petition approval, NVC document processing and an actual interview appointment.
  2. Review the file in Cebu: identify missing originals, changes since filing and questions for the U.S. sponsor.
  3. Build the Manila itinerary: use appointment confirmations rather than a friend’s earlier schedule.
  4. Plan for follow-up: keep copies and access to the record if the post requests more information.

Do not treat interview attendance as a guarantee of immediate visa issuance or a fixed return-travel date.

For events registered in Cebu or another Philippine locality, verify the required PSA-issued record using the official Philippines civil-document schedule. A local copy and the required PSA version are not automatically interchangeable. Identify discrepancies in names, dates and registration history before booking a final document review.

If a record is unavailable or contains a legal amendment, bring the available record and the supporting history. Discuss appropriate evidence and any local legal work separately; a U.S. immigration lawyer does not replace Philippine counsel for Philippine-law proceedings.

Quezon City: the local preparation details

Quezon City preparation for a Manila immigrant interview

Follow the official Manila immigrant-visa instructions and your case notice. The embassy’s checklist requires online registration and a VAC photo/fingerprint appointment before the embassy interview. It also identifies St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic for the required medical.

For the broader consular process, see our Manila immigration guide. Quezon City is the client’s preparation location, not an alternate U.S. immigrant-visa interview post.

The Manila checklist places the VAC appointment before the embassy interview and directs applicants to schedule the designated medical two weeks before interview. Check current details through the official links rather than using a remembered venue or an ordinary Quezon City clinic.

Match the names, passport details and case identifiers across notices and submissions. Keep originals and the required uploads organized. A previously submitted copy does not remove the obligation to bring the originals listed for the category.

The Philippines civil-document schedule describes accepted PSA records and NBI clearance. Manila’s instructions require aliases and relevant name variants in the NBI request. Review maiden names, birth-certificate names and different spellings against the complete application history.

Prepare a residence history for possible records from other countries, alongside any court or military documents. Keep employment, sponsor and civil evidence separated by applicant. Do not assume a local police clearance replaces the NBI document specified for the case.

Match the legal service to the real objective

Families and spouses

Review the petitioner’s status, relationship history, civil evidence, earlier marriages and sponsorship. Marriage immigration and NVC preparation involve different government stages. A petition approval is not a visa decision.

Employers and professionals

Prepare the proposed U.S. duties, employer evidence and qualifications. A corporate transfer requires analysis of the foreign/U.S. relationship and work abroad. Explore H-1B, L-1 or O-1 services according to the actual facts.

Refusals and complex history

Bring the submitted application and refusal notice, not only a summary. Administrative processing and temporary-intent refusals are different issues. Review prior stays, criminal history and any inconsistent answers before a new application.

Use official resources for current instructions

Government operating conditions and nationality-based restrictions may affect a case even when a checklist is published. Check applicability, exceptions and actual case messages before paying for travel. Do not assume that residence changes nationality-based rules.

Prepare for a useful consultation

Bring passports, prior applications, receipts and decisions, a complete travel/status timeline, civil records and any deadline. Identify the decision you need to make now and which evidence is already available. Consultation by phone or video is separate from attendance at a government interview; discuss any required in-person appearance and its scope.

For a prepared packet, consider Document Review. Representation begins only after the firm accepts the matter and agrees to the scope and terms.
