If you are a US resident planning to marry a non-US citizen living outside of the US, you have to get a K-1 visa for your spouse by filing Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé, which allows them to travel to the US and marry you within 90 days of arrival.
One of the supporting documentation required is a love letter proving good faith relationship and a genuine desire to marry your fiance. We have attached a sample letter as a reference to help you write the perfect letter.
The Purpose Of a Love Letter When Filing For a Fiance Visa (Form i 129f)
One of the supporting documentation required is a relationship letter proving good faith relationship and a genuine desire to marry when you file for a K-1 Visa (form i 129f) for your alien fiancé. One of the primary reasons why a convincing supporting document is important is the unfortunate widespread of marriage fraud worldwide.
Marrying a US citizen to obtain a green card is the fastest way to be on track to becoming a US citizen. In the year 2019, US courts charged nearly 100 individuals in a grand marriage fraud scheme. A green card through marriage is, therefore, an area that is often misused and abused. Thus it is necessary to attach a relationship letter explaining your relationship with your fiancé, how you met and started talking, and back it up with relevant evidence to make sure your K-1 visa( form i 129f) is not denied.
Immigration services want evidence and assurance that your intent to marry your fiancé is real before they issue you a non-immigrant visa ( K-1 – form i 129f) to travel to the US for your wedding. It is advised to write a comprehensive relationship letter rather than a generic statement out of a ready-made template from any website.

Supporting Documents Needed While Filing for a K-1 Visa
#Evidence of in-person meeting
Generally, you need to submit evidence of in-person meetings in the past with your future fiance while submitting the K-1 visa. Exceptions to this exist, keeping in mind certain cultural rituals and traditions, but it is advised to consult an experienced immigration attorney to assist in your case.
#Intent to Marry
Intention to marry is essential to prove for a k-1 visa for your fiance. The purpose of a K-1 visa is to bring your foreign fiancé to the US and marry them. If one of you backs out, it is not a crime, but the initial intent to marry your fiancé is required. You can prove so by submitting your love story letter as a supporting document.
#Relationship in good faith
It is fundamental to establish that you and your fiance are in love and are getting married with pure intent and not for the purpose of obtaining permanent residence through marriage. This could be achieved by attaching a supporting document describing your fairy tale in a letter.

A Sample Letter
In the summer of 2017, a couple of friends and I planned to travel to Indonesia to learn how to surf. Jake, my best friend, was engaged to Amy, who invited us over to her place in Bali.
Jake had casually mentioned several times how Amy knows a girl that would be a perfect match for me, but I never took it seriously. I vividly remember the date my life took a 180 turn for good, the 24th of July, 2017. It was a breezy day, the last week of my vacation in Bali, Indonesia, when I finally met my shining armor.
We were at a night party hosted by Amy and Jake, where Jane and I met for the first time. She was someone I was missing out on my whole life. God knows, she was the first girl I told my family about; I knew she was the one. To my surprise, we spent the whole night talking to each other until dawn. She was not like any of the girls I’d previously met; she was a person with a kind heart and a contagious laugh.
It was possibly the most memorable week of my life. We spent almost all the time together after the party until my flight back to the US. It just felt natural; we talked and, to our surprise, had so much in common, even had a similar job.
After landing back in the US, Jane and I kept communicating every day. Despite a long-distance relationship, we kept the romance alive and grew even closer. We both realized how much we miss each other and that we are meant to be together. I knew she was what dreams are made of when I kept waiting for her to reply to my text while being 9,662 mi away from her.
Due to the ever-changing circumstances, I had to wait another six months to fly back to Bali to meet Jane and her parents, and I landed in Bali on the 1st of January 2018. She came to pick me up from the airport, and we went straight to a luxury beach house resort for lunch.
Upon entering the beachfront, I was surprised to be welcomed by a group of musicians playing my favorite songs and a private table for two filled with beautiful red roses. That was a clear sign of how much she loved and appreciated me coming back to meet her.
Afterward, we arrived at her parent’s place to the scene of her dad and brother grilling some shrimp, my favorite food for dinner. Everyone was very welcoming, and I felt at home. After spending the weekend at her family home, I surprised her with a week-long trip to Nusa Menjangan Island.
Before leaving for vacation, I reached out to her parents to let them know of my intent to marry Jane without her knowing. They were happy to hear that and were happy that Jane has met the guy of her dreams.
On the 8th of January, we flew to the island and checked in our scenic beach resort. On our last day, the 14th of January 2018, I proposed to her on a beachfront. It was the perfect sunny day, and she happily accepted.
After returning back to her parent’s house, we told everyone about the good news and celebrated like a family. Unfortunately, I had to take a flight back to the US for work commitments.
We have continued our communication alive through social media and have spent time planning our wedding together and cannot wait for an in-person meeting when she arrives in the US on a fiance visa to marry me.
We have plans to start our lives together once Jane arrives in the US and execute our dream wedding ceremony in my home town, Texas. We have decided to shift to a small country cottage once we are married and live happily ever after.
As evidence that Jane and I have met and spent time together, I am attaching as proof a copy of all my plane tickets to Bali and Nusa Menjangan Island, a picture from our first meeting, and copies of our exchange on WhatsApp, email, and telephone bills. Moreover, I have attached a copy of the engagement ring receipt and some pictures of when I proposed to her.
