Case Processing Times
The federal agency takes a variable amount of time for processing applications. This variance depends on the office and the form you submit. Here are the processing times for naturalization and citizenship applications at the St. Louis field office:
- Certificate of Citizenship (N-600): 6.5 to 14.5 months
- Citizenship and Issuance of Certificate Under Section 322 (N-600K): 10 to 22.5 months
- Naturalization (N-400): 7.5 to 14 months
These processing times indicate the time taken for concluding almost all of the cases. However, sometimes the case can take longer to process than the time you see for it. In this case, the information is given to you as case inquiry date on the same page as the processing time becomes important:
If the “Receipt Date” you have is an earlier one compared to the inquiry date, you have waited long enough and can ask about the delay. So, if the received date is 19 July 2020 and the inquiry is 20 July 2020, submit an e-request from the following section.
Visiting Precautions

- Don’t take photographs or record yourself
- Keep your phone on silent when waiting for your appointment and switch it off when getting interviewed
- Double cheque the timings on days when the weather is bad
